When unscrupulous turtle sellers tell their victims a turtle will "not get any bigger" they are telling the truth.... MANY of that size will die before they get much bigger due to incorrect diet, habitat, and lighting. (also, if in the US, it is actually illegal for them to sell you turtles under 4 inches, though there are loopholes)

Reply:Since no one else touched on this, I will. First off, I am wondering where you got the info that a cooter will stay the size of a quarter? Cooters will get around 10" when you take care of them properly. And they will live 75 years... The only way that wouldn't happen, is if you do not take care of it right. If you do not give it the proper heat light and habitat that it needs, and you will be lucky if it lives a year. I have seen pet store sell baby turtle in little plastic containers and say that is the biggest it will get. But when it comes down to it they and the people buying that turtle are abusing it! You should really google Cooters and find out just what you got your self into, unless you don't care...
